Thrift Tip

Always be on the lookout for silky blouses at the thrift store. They’re great staple pieces. I’ve amassed a small collection that are on a steady rotation in my outfits, and I can usually find them for a couple dollars. Just check for damages, snags, or missing buttons!

All Black Everything

As silly as it sounds, I felt like I was breaking the rules by wearing a hat to class because hats were against high school dress codes, but that made it more fun.

I love the newsboy cap style of this hat and the black and white houndstooth print because I easily paired it with an all black outfit.

Style Tip

Another styling trick I use all the time is to button three or four buttons of a silky blouse and double knot the excess.

When I’m running late or feel lazy, a great go-to outfit is to wear skinny jeans with a knotted top. Bonus points because you still look like you put in a lot of effort when you didn’t!

Power Dressing

Since the look is monochromatic, one of my favorite ways of wearing all black is to combine different textures to keep it interesting. I think that monochromatic dressing is a modern form of power dressing. I felt very confident in this outfit because it’s trendy yet very fitting with my style.
